Conference Realignment

I really hate this discussion but really we can't just sit back and not do anything.  I honestly think that Jamie Pollard needs to shop us around to the Big Ten, Pac 12, and SEC.  I really don't want to but I think it is neccessary in the survival of our school.  Especially with our new found growth in Mens Basketball and in Football.  Along with our continued success in Womens Basketball and Vollyball.  I think that it would be fairly reasonable to be a new entry into one of these conferences.  I believe the best would be going to the Big Ten as there is Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and possibly other Big 12 North teams if some of this goes through.  That means that we would not be a extreme outlying school.  We also have some of the best facilities in the midwest.  We have Jack Trice which is expected to be expanded the way it is and if we are able to keep growing we may add to that.  We also have one of the better college basketball atmospheres with Hilton and holding a top 5 attendence record in WBB and a still respectable crowd for a recovering MBB program.  I think that this would bring a lot to whatever conference we would join as we also travel very well.  When you put this all together I think that we are a very big underdog on what we have to offer.  I know we don't have the money that others do but I think we are gaining respectability and also with joining another conference we may have some added support because the Big 12 has long been stereotyped as very top heavy.  So lets get this moving and not screw ourselves.

Week 5 Top 15

  1. Alabama-They played really well against a okay Florida team.
  2. TCU-They looked a little shaky against Colorado State
  3. NebraskaBye week
  4. Oregon-They beat a very good Stanford team.
  5. Ohio State-They looked really shaky against a far lesser team in Illinois.
  6. Iowa (My Pick for National Champion) -(They are the real deal I think that they would have gone undefeated had Ricki Stanzi not gotten hurt.  Now great teams need to have back ups and they have one as their true freshman quarterback came in finished out the Northwestern game after no real game experience then the next week went to the Horseshoe and almost took down the mighty Buckeyes.  They also have 3 or four great smash-mouth and quick running backs.  So I really think as long as Stanzi doesn't choke and they stay healthy they will have an explosive offense.  They also have most of their exceptional defense coming back which includes this years Ndamukong Suh.) They played really well against a good Penn State team and won by the same margin as Alabama.
  7. Boise State-They creamed yet another one of their cupcakes that fill their conference
  8.  Utah- Bye week
  9.  Arizona- Bye week
  10.  Michigan State- They beat a very good Wisconsin team.
  11.  Oklahoma State- They are shaping up to be really good.
  12.  Nevada - They are looking to be a good team beating Cal by a lot when Arizona only won by one.
  13. Stanford - They lost to a very good Oregon team that very well could win the NCG.
  14.  Michigan- They look to be able to knock some teams of this year
  15. Wisconsin-They lost a very disappointing game to a good MSU team.

Ranking the Big XII

Here i'm going to see if I can correctly predict the Big Xll.

  1. Texas - Well it has to be Texas or Oklahoma and I think with both reloading that it will be the one with the better coach in Texas.
  2. Oklahoma - With the loss of Bradford and the loss of him part way through the season it exposed how good they are without the best players.
  3. Nebraska - I think that with this being their last year they will probably be motivated to do really good and leave on a good note.
  4. Texas A&M - I think that they are on the up and up and will be good this year.
  5. Oklahoma State - I think that they are getting better and will have an average year.
  6. Colorado - I think with the same situation as Nebraska they will have a good year.
  7. Missouri - I think they are a couple of years away from becoming the new Nebraska or at least fighting it out with Iowa State.
  8. Texas Tech - I think they will bee okay but with the new coach will have a tough year.
  9. Iowa State - I think will be really good this year but with Texas and Oklahoma being away games this year they will be held back.
  10. Kansas State - I think that they are going in the wrong direction and will be like Iowa State during the Chizik era.
  11. Baylor - I think that they are going in the right direction but will be overshadowed by their bigger brothers and the other up and up teams.
  12. Kansas - With all of the problems they have had the last few years I would say they are going to really struggle.

Sleeper Teams: Iowa State, Missouri, and Baylor
Look for these teams to possibly make a run this year.
